Limelight (Intense Pulsed Light) Therapy
For laser facials, redness, brown spots and fine lines

cutera_limelight-300x62Thanks to the Cutera Limelight system, we have a proven non-invasive light-based therapy system that treats brown and red spots (pigmented and vascular), rejuvenates the face, and improves skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photo damage.

What does the treatment do?

The Cutera Limelight can be specifically customized to your skin type and selectively treat brown and/or red areas on your skin. By superheating the pigmented brown or red cells, these unwanted areas can diminish and improve overall skin tone and color.

What areas can be treated?

The Cutera Limelight Facial is ideal for any part of the face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, tiny veins (telangiectasias) or brown spots (hyperpigmentation). Light or low contrast brown spots which were previously difficult to treat, respond very well to the Limelight treatment. Other areas such as the hands or legs may be excellent candidates for the Limelight treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Most areas 1-6 treatments spaced about 1 month apart. It is dependent on the area being treated and the amount of photo damage. Treatment sessions last ½ hour to 45 minutes or more depending on the areas being treated. Certainly, individual results vary, but Dr. Vasquez or his qualified staff can provide you with thorough evaluation and recommendation.

What does the Limelight treatment feel like?

Intense pulsed light is delivered in a very quick pulse that can feel warm or pinching. We may use a cooling or lubricating gel to optimize the treatment as well as protect the skin. However anesthetic cream or pain medicine is rarely required. In general, you may find the experience relaxing and very tolerable.

What are the possible side effects?

Side effects are rare. However redness and swelling can occur. It is very important to avoid direct sun exposure, and sunscreen is highly recommended. Any treated areas may be slightly swollen or red. However you can resume your normal skin routine as soon as you get home.

When will I see any results?

Immediately or within a few hours, brown spots may get darker, or red spots may look white and flaky. Within 1 to 3 weeks, these spots will flake off and fade. New brown spots or redness may appear with new sun damage. However these new areas can also be treated. Rosacea is chronic and cannot always be “cured” permanently with any laser or light source. However its appearance can be improved significantly. Maintenance treatments are sometimes needed on a yearly basis to either retreat areas or treat new areas of photo damage.
